Ultimately, it is a tribute to motherhood, and the ability of a woman of determination to steadfastly refuse to be controlled, subjugated or humiliated by refusing to be handed a label and fate determined by her oppressors. I'm not sure why this wasn't on other lists as I thoroughly enjoyed it and think other men shouldn't be scared away from this moving fable of female self-redemption.
