UAP: Difference between revisions

|content=As I said before, I have no idea what to make of the UAP shift of our government. But I do know that this period is unlike *any* other epoch. And there are many *different* unprecedented things that could happen so close to the source code as we have been for 50 to 75 years.

I have always avoided UFO discussion. This makes that impossible:

|content=Enough! Let’s get back to UFOs and space opera so we don’t have to worry about China & Iran making a breakthrough on a white board in some lab we can’t see.

[[Morals|Moral]]: if you take UFOs seriously but not the risk of new physics, you aren’t thinking clearly.  

|content=At this point, the story I am tracking isn’t “Little Green Men”. It is “Officials inexplicably change course on UFO narrative”.

|content=High level government officials have given [[UAP|UAPs]] credibility, but it's still pretty hard for an outsider to analyze the evidence objectively. It's all video footage and testimony. We need much stronger evidence to form any real opinion on UFOs being extraterrestrial or not.

We are talking about UFOs while not worrying about New Physics.

|content=Think about the g-2 muon anomaly. Have you heard as much about that suggesting the possibility of New Physics from high precision (rather than high energy) as you have about the TicTac UAP?

Only don’t say UFO...say UAP. And when we ask “So...aliens?” They say “This is not consistent with the capabilities of any nation.”

UAP, Gain Of Function, New Physics, MANPADS, loose nukes, etc should be the same.

|content=When our experts now talk openly about all these UFOs they talk about their “technology”.

|content=Imagine if these UAP were actually visitors from beyond the local solar neighborhood. You wouldn’t be focused on their technology first. You’d want to understand how they got here and if they used new physics to do so. Most importantly, you’d want to know about dimension hacking.

|content=You can recover a surprising amount  from just one simple statement: UAP, public health, standardized testing, immigration, mortgage backed securities, crypto, inflation methodology, String Theory, Aaron Swartz, Etc.

|content=The quality of the authenticated UFO/UAP video is lousy. Do not imagine that this low quality video is the major data trove that has us discussing the unimaginable.

The truly major data in support of UFOs that we have as of today is simply the change in the official narrative.

|content=I’m not saying that the UAP/UFO stuff is 👽. I am saying that we’re being *told* it’s 👽 in a game.

|content=Folk wisdom to the contrary, we are somehow mildly pregnant with UFOs.

Playing footsie with a UFO narrative that sounds like “Unknown drones appear to be routinely harassing our pilots in restricted US military airspace.” Is incredibly dangerous.

Yours seems to be a story of incompetent UFO LARPers taking over a sensitive geopolitical narrative with zero adult supervision in thermonuclear geopolitical rivalry. Yes?

We are both skeptics. But this UFO story is weird beyond belief Michael. I can’t think of a single story to fit to these reports I’m hearing about.  

Skepticism with an open mind is a lot rarer than reflexive skepticism. Thanks to you and @DrBrianKeating for a rather different UFO conversation than either wild eyed belief or knee jerk rejectionism. 🙏

Time to de-stigmatize the whole topic and help the data talk. The claimed phenomenon of UFO/UAP, after all, should be a scientific question.

|content=A key point. We use cosmic rays as if they were from an accelerator. There is an outside chance that UAP should be thought of the same way.

If we’re hurting for new physical phenomena to analyze, some portion of our physics effort should be spent debunking or understanding UAP.

|content=There is no debunking UAP at this stage - the only question is: what are these these technologies which appear to defy the laws of physics as we know them?

|content=Dear @EricRWeinstein See my presentation to the group on Bayesian probabilities that UAPs = ordinary terrestrial phenomena far more than extraordinary terrestrial/ET phenom. Odds of ETIs coming here or Chinese/Russians discovered new physics very low, video artifacts very high.

Time to de-stigmatize the whole topic and help the data talk. The claimed phenomenon of UFO/UAP, after all, should be a scientific question.

But this is correct. And courageous. UAP is both a security and a scientific issue. Stop the giggles. Start the study.
