It seems to me that "Tecquisition" rolls off the tongue better. Same idea, though.
TechCarthyism, n.: A movement using mainstream tech-platforms to socially engineer thought-level compliance to a radical political agenda through Star Chambers (e.g. "Trust and Safety"), Shadowbans, Show-Trials (court of public opinion), Deplatforming & Uneven Enforcement of ToS.
I had forgotten that Eric already coined the term "Thinkquisition". I guess TechCarthyism it is, then.
Just to be clear: TechCarthyism is (*so-far*) a particular form of LeftCarthyism used to carry out the Thinkquisition. But it could conceivably be used by a right leaning platform against the left. McCarthy was, of course, conservative.
Iâm not aware of that having occurred yet.
Whatâs the ToS strikes game? Blacklisting
The âAlternative Influence Networkâ report? A blacklist recommendation
Operation Chokepoint? Blacklist
Trust & Safety Star Chambers? Blacklisters
Cancel Culture? Blacklisting
Iâm fighting this rebirth of McCarthyism as LeftCarthyism.
I detest *anything* that behaves like McCarthyism. If youâre confused by my politics, thatâs the main clue. Ask:
Q: âWhat would a rational liberal/progressive do if other liberals/progressives fell under the spell of McCarthy and ceased to be liberal/progressive?â
A:Maybe this.
Blacklists Matter.
I want you to imagine that your private phone calls start dropping every time your uncle mentions Building 7, Jean Seberg, Hunter Biden or The Wuhan Institute of Virology.

I want my crazy pro-trump friends & family to be able to say their crazy stupid ass Trump-Train Bullshit. In fact, it is essential to me. I want to be able to rebut it. I don't want to be protected against "potentially harmful" articles by a Publisher pretending to be a platform.
This isn't targeted harrassment of an individual. This is a political race for president of the united states.
This is no longer a Platform in any meaningful sense. It is time to apply the standards of a Publisher. This is insane.
The most unsafe thing on Twitter is "Trust and Safety"; exactly as you would expect.
To whom do I report "Trust and Safety" @jack? Because they are out of control and they deserve, if left to continue in their censorous excesses, to destroy Twitter as it becomes a "Publisher".

Trumpism fills the reality shaped hole in our journalism left by LeftCarthyism.
You cannot rid yourself of the former without eradicating the latter. And we *must* rid ourselves of the former.

It is time to again start reporting the news.
It is time for a return to a second version of the Church and Pike Committees.
To regulate speech companies or provide a public version of Twitter, FaceBook and Google as well as ISPs so that our speech cannot be throttled according to anything other than the laws of our nation.
