Break-Glass-in-case-of-Emergency People
Because Iām making it harder to do to me what @TwitterSafety did to @articlesofunity.
Because Iām not a lunatic conspiracy theorist, nor a lunatic ignoring conspiracies.
Because no one...and I mean no one...has intellectually threaded this needle.
Because *process* matters.
Because I refuse to hate either 1/2 of my fellow Americans and call them belittling names for choosing a candidate.
Because DJT hadnāt shown much of his hand and I didnāt want to bet against an inside straight if he drew one.
Because our deep state HAS pulled off amazing coups.
Because Iāve assumed this was likely to be the most dangerous transfer of power between administrations in our modern history.
Because I donāt know the datasets well enough to comment directly.
Because hot takes arenāt my reason for being.
Because I donāt want to be wrong.
Because I have under half a million followers and I am trying to be a responsible adult thinker in front of them for my kidsā generation in a world without enough adult role models.
Because I believe there may be micro frauds, but no evidence yet of a macro conspiracy.
Because the grownups cheated in the Democratic fake primary against @AndrewYang and @TulsiGabbard according to my read of the situation, so Iāve regard this entire election as tainted...but we still have to move forward.
Because I am often not sure what the hell is going on.
But, *most* importantly, I protected my credibility w/ a lot of DJT supporters despite my position. I didnāt throw anyone under a bus when things got hot.
I held my tongue for 4 years on a lot to just listen. I saved up, so that when I spoke, it might matter.
Now it matters. š
In addition, weāre supposed to have special āBreak glass in case of Emergencyā elders put aside for special occasions.
Iām definitely NOT that guy. But Iād sit in her/his seat until she/he shows up, just like at the Oscars. Maybe @KillerMike, Buzz Aldrin or Chesley Sullenberger?
I resist most requests for book recommendations.
I suggest "Prison Diary" by Jayaprakash Narayan for this moment in our democracy.
[ "Break Glass in Case of Emergency People" comes from a long forgotten slogan in Hindi: "ą¤ ą¤ą¤§ą„ą¤°ą„ ą¤®ą„ą¤ ą¤ą¤ ą¤Ŗą„ą¤°ą¤ą¤¾ą¤¶" as a play on the word "Emergency".]
The Hindi translates as āIn The Darkness, There is One Light.ā
āDarknessā refers to the āEmergencyā declared by PM Indira Gandhi.
āLightā refers to Jayapraskah Narayan.
āOneā refers to his singular suitability for the moment having been apart.
Hence āBreak Glass in case of..ā
In the American Context my claim is that we need such people.
@TheRealBuzz for example. Or @jockowillink or someone else who we know is focused on Nation & Democracy above the fray.
That is my point. We arenāt even looking for our singular people because we are too far gone.
