|content=That's not at all my intention. The answer was hyperspecific to a ubiquitous problem in UAP discussions. It wasn't a general technology space or physics space. In those spaces I would have said, "I have nothing to contribute but it is a fascinating area."
The problem in UAP discussions is that they have this bizarre fascination with metamaterials and the like. You cannot meta-material your way around the cosmos. Physics is a big field. And condensed matter/solid state/material science are fascinating. But as long as Einstein is the law of the land, we are so far away from everything worth visiting that it is all but pointless to talk about engineering ships limited by the speed of light.
More or less, the physics and science discussion in UAP spaces is always about the wrong science topics in my opinion. So I am perhaps overly brutal when people talk about the following things endlessly:
Meta-Materials</br>
Relativistic Time Dilation to 'evade' speed of light</br>
Wormholes-Einstein Rosen Bridges</br>
High Temperature Superconducters</br>
Interdimensional Beings</br>
The Universe is made of Consciousness</br>
Generation Ships</br>
Angels and Demons</br>
Element 115</br>
Gravity Wave B</br>
Remote Viewing as Established fact</br>
Etc.
Why is this? Because if we are to take the possibility of interstellar travel seriously, it would require new fundamental theories to plausibly traverse the cosmos. And this kind of stuff crowds out that discussion.
So the fuller answer is "I want to talk about making this field meaningfully more scientific. If you want to repeatedly and endlessly discuss Wormholes or Meta-Materials in the absence of hard data and in lieu of the fundamental physics beyond our  current picture which would make visitation plausible, I am not interested in crowding that out. I want to ask where the scientists are, where the hard data is and what theories would be needed beyond Einstein and the Standard Model to justify focusing on engineering questions. But you are free to spend your time on that if you think it is the way forward. Go for it. Best of luck."

|content=Regarding "Kona Blue". I have been away from normal connectivity so I have been slow to digest this. Here is what I have.
My position on UFO/UAP has been solidly consistent for the last several years:
A) I was previously simply wrong that there was nothing to this story. I have no interest in denying my error.
B) There were almost certainly secret programs hidden within the US Federal Government that have been denied that were addressed to the topic of UFOs.
C) There is, as yet, no hard public scientific proof that any of these programs have anything to do with actual recovered craft or 'biologics' or Non-Human Intelligence or Aliens.
D) There is a history of fakery in warfare and national security that could explain this.
E) High level physicists like John Wheeler, Bryce DeWitt, Louis Witten, Pascal Jordan, Herman Bondi, etc were previously part of some bizarre secret anti-gravity efforts related to UFO programs that birthed our common era of Quantum Gravity.
F) Quantum Gravity, at least publicly, does not appear to work by historical standards in its 71 year history.
G) This state of QG is totally non-controversial scientifically, but pointing this out leads to bizarre reputational attacks.
H) There is some connection inside the US government from UFO/UAP to occult like interest in angels/demons/consciousness/"remote viewing" which makes the whole thing sound like nonsense. This may be intentional to discredit interest from those not read in to the special access programs.
I) There appear to be essentially no high level physicists involved in a supposed area of national security that hinges on phenomena that supposedly defy physical law. This is itself a MAJOR clue that gets little attention.

With "Kona Blue" disclosed, I am relieved that I would appear to be proven correct on many of the above points. I was *not* early here, but I did not overclaim either and admitted my main error. I can also reasonably claim that I was early among PhDs with relevant backgrounds regarding relations to physics.
The above points A)-I) are pretty much what one concludes when a sober person with historical awareness confronts the reality of a completely insane corner of national security. I stand by all of the above statements no matter how nutty they sound, or how conservative they sound to different parties. This is simply the state of the situation if you are not a UFO enthusiast or debunker.  It's totally embarassing for our nation and made a deliberately unresolvable question as to what is going on. That is not an accident. It is by design. It's really just unconscionable that we are here.

|content=One question I get a lot is "What explains your asymmetric focus on Democrats and the Left?"
The short answer, after some soul searching and introspection, is simply this: "The Gaslighting of Experts."
I see the Republican party fighting the experts they oppose. I don't see them trying to gaslight them much.
Let's say you are an economist who believes that higher taxes spent on infrastructure would be good for the nation. The right may fight you. They may call you a name like "Libtard" or "Commie". And that is absolutely awful behavior to me. Truly. But they aren't nearly as likely to coordinate behind the scenes in emails to be discovered later and all agree to pretend, seemingly independently, that as a former expert you have committed some unclear moral crime that means you can never be empaneled or invited onto a commission. They aren't immediately going to treat you like a mental patient, a con-artist, or threat to society. They are just going to be asses. That's the dopey game they love: "Happy Warriors" is what they call it.
And the subjects I focus on most tend to be the places where I think dissenting experts are being gaslit:

In all cases above, there is some absolutely *MASSIVE* long-term lying and obfuscation. Not small. Not excusable. I am talking about massive lies. Lies that last decades. Lies too large to choke a blue whale.
And they incinerate dissenting experts as pretend neer-do-wells for the crime of dissenting from consensus.
What is the point of becoming an expert Stanford or Harvard professor if you can be turned into a "Fringe Epidemiologist" like @DrJBhattacharya was overnight by some washington insiders like Colins and Fauci?
To an academic: it makes life pointless. Everything we are becomes pointless if that is allowed to stand.
So, this is what I have to say: I appear to be focused on gaslighting of dissenting experts more than politics.
It's not that I don't have political opinions. I do. It's that I haven't been able to focus on them for years. All we seem to do these days is deal with gaslighting on our top line issues above.
And the formula is quite simple. An expert can have:
A) Reach.</br>
B) Reputation.</br>
C) Independence.
but no more than 2 out of 3.
This is a terrible rule. And whoever attempts to enforce that rule, is who I fight. Unfortunately, that group has been my own historic political party as transformed over 30 years.
And, in my opinion, they deserve to continue to hemorrage credibility for that crime against their own until they end this tactic. It's a crime against everything I believe with all my soul. We need *DISSENTING* experts to right our listing ship on all of the above and more.
Check the above list. That's no small thing. It's about the destruction of a country that I dearly love and which the world needs desperately to come back at this moment.

As you know, I am not a believer or experiencer. So this isn't being driven by having a dog in that fight. I do believe that the USG is not honest about things labeled UFO/UAP, and that it has had extensive denied programs that, at a bare minimum, at least involve UFOs as a cover story.

Then I want a clean crisp statement from the security services that this is a giant nothing burger, and that Mass Delusion is what is going on. If this is a Mass Delusion: MAKE THAT CASE. I'm all ears. I'll help make it. Just convince me.

Stipulate for a moment to EVERYTHING you are saying. What YOU are describing is an absurd actual security risk: a hysterical population led by incompetent mayors, with government and media that have lost so much credibility, that they cannot stop a simple mass delusion which can now easily be weaponized by our enemies. What you are describing is ALSO a security vulnerability to be exploited by our adversaries.
You appear to have no idea what you are talking about because you are *self-inconsistent*. There is no 'just' in the above sir. The Mick West version of events is still an insane situation. You are simply describing a *second* insane security situation. I am not in NJ so I have no way to know which it is...but now I know that it is serious either way.
Forgive me Mick, but you are not getting this. Happy to be proven wrong.
I return to my original belief: this is a serious situation which, for unknown reasons, the USG is not eager to resolve in the minds of the public of which it is supposed to be their extension. The lack of resolution alone is a potentially dangerous situation having to do with public trust and panic.
This is an insane situation no matter how you slice it.

|content=Note to Self: if I ever have an unexplained aerial incursion that I don’t to discuss and want to avoid calling UAP or UFO, I can always send up a haystack worth of actual commercial  drones to hide a needle of UAP.
I could then get everyone to use the word “drones”, droning on and on about drones here and drones there so that “drones” gets said over and over like a drone in the background. Then everyone will use the word drone. I’d perseverate drones into being the word. Make drones “happen”, if you will.
And if I did that I could hope the public  won’t notice that an unidentified SUV sized flying object *could* be manned
and so saying “drone” is a giveaway that either you know very well what is going on and don’t want to say
or you have no ideas what’s true and don’t want to say. Saying Drone says a lot.
Technically if an SUV sized object is airborne it is *not* a drone while unidentified. It is a UAP or UFO until identified. UAP is not NHI. And it is what we have here.
So with that said: what is happing with all of this Eastern Seaboard UAP?
