Oh man. @DARPA_news claims there is a US geek shortage. Uh...Do they know it has authors? Circa 1986? By @NSF? Jointly with NAS via GUIRR?
Recommendation to @DARPA_news: request all internal docs written by @NSF economist Myles Boylan. Some are undated with no attribution.

Those debating H-1B and skilled immigration should talk to its intellectual father. A quiet man of which you likely have never heard.
There is one hell of a conspiracy story to tell around where this came from. Would consider doing a podcast to stop my friends from fighting.

It is an evil system designed by a conspiracy from our science complex that brings us great people to displace our own great people, which is supported by great people and fought by great people.
All the major voices I see on this so far are in some super-position of 'Wrong' and 'Not Wrong'.
Note to my friends with the incoming administration: It will tear you apart if you don't know where it came from and what it is designed to do.

Americans Scientists and Engineers are pains in the ass if you are looking for employees. We aren’t really employee of the month types. Duh.
We are in a totally different idiom. We are badly behaved, maverick, cowboy science types. You aren’t serious about the best brightest scientists and engineers if you are in the bargain aisle looking for lapdogs, yes-men, employees and indoor cats.
End the war to capture the value created by scientists and STEM workers. Let them capture their own immense value again.
They made you rich. They made you secure. Time to return the favor.
