Who are you?
I'm the guy who got this wiki up and running, so the community could run with it. For the past couple decades I've made my living as a web developer, so I'm happy to help the community with anything web related.
I'm in the Discord as BeefSandwich27, but my friends call me Brandon.
What's the Point of All This?
I think GWT could also be called "Reality 101".
It looks like Eric is trying to answer the question, "If I want to understand how the universe works, where the hell do I even start?" Once you can understand the topics in the GWT, then you're well positioned to START digging into the larger questions.
Every single topic in the GWT is fascinating to me, so I'm using the wiki as a tool to unpack it all, publicly, in real time, with collaborators. For example, I wanted to understand the Graph, so I linked each topic in it to Wikipedia. https://theportal.wiki/wiki/Graph,_Wall,_Tome#The_Graph
I linked: spacetime, pseudo-Riemannian manifold, metric tensor, geometrical laws, fermions, isomorphic, gauge fields, and quantum mechanics. Those are all separate subjects worth pursuing and unpacking. This is fun stuff.
Then I realized that I'm not really even clear what a metric tensor is, so I followed the Wikipedia page, but it was a little overwhelming. So, I found a YouTube video. Then I figured, we could have a Metric Tensor page that becomes the on-ramp to understanding that concept. That page should answer the question, "As a layperson, how do I know what a Metric Tensor is?" Right now it's just a page that links to the YouTube video and Wikipedia, but eventually it will be more fleshed out and provide additional, clear resources for understanding the concept. https://theportal.wiki/wiki/Metric_tensor
So, how can you help? Just do the same thing. Learn all the concepts in the GWT. Start with the Graph or the Wall. Find a topic and as you're learning, use the wiki as your notepad. Make it easier for the next person to follow your path. I know way less than a lot of the experts in here, but I have to start from where I am. And I'm using my lack of knowledge as a positive thing. I can document my journey in the wiki and minimize the amount of work/friction the next person has to contend with to get up to speed.
Can I trust you? Are you a bad guy?
I want Eric to succeed. That might make me a bad guy. Not sure. Hah! Hopefully, I've answered that here.
Who owns this wiki?
During the initial Discord voice call with Eric, I went ahead and bought the domain name and the server hosting. I was able to set everything up and get it running quickly, because several years ago I ran a wiki project that was much larger than this. That project was sold to Jimmy Wales's company, Wikia.
This project won't be sold. I'll donate all of it to Eric whenever he asks. I want the owner to be whoever Eric wants the owner to be. Right now I'm just the de facto custodian.
