The Portal Transcripts is a project to create full transcripts of all episodes of The Portal Podcast and media featuring Eric Weinstein. We use Otter.ai to generate transcripts from media and match speakers to text, and then we edit them in Google Docs. Completed transcripts are posted to The Portal Blog and The Portal Wiki. If you would like to contribute, join our transcript-focused Discord server or our main Discord server.

Goals[edit]

Accurately transcribe episodes of The Portal Podcast and other media featuring Eric Weinstein in a consistent style.
Make these transcripts available on The Portal Blog and The Portal Wiki.

This is a list of resources used in the project.

Transcription Tools[edit]

Otter.ai - Our preferred transcript generation tool.
Descript - No longer preferred, though previously and sometimes still used.

Meta Resources[edit]

Google Drive - This Google Drive folder contains transcripts
Progress Tracking Spreadsheet - This spreadsheet contains information on the status of each transcript.
Transcript Style Guide - This style guide covers the general formatting and rules we use to edit transcripts.

Transcript Workflow - The general workflow of making and editing a transcript from start to finish.
Content by Eric Weinstein - A list of Eric's guest appearances and original media.
All Episodes - A list of all Portal Podcast episodes.

Categories[edit]

No Transcript Category - A category for pages without transcripts.
Transcript Category - A category for pages with transcripts.

Templates[edit]

Transcript template category - Lists all wiki templates used with transcripts.
No transcript template - Template to put on pages for media that does not yet have an edited transcript. It adds a short message about The Portal Transcripts in addition to the No Transcript Category to the page.
Transcript description template - Template to put on pages for media with edited transcripts. It credits the editors and introduces the Portal Transcripts projects.
