I have always admired Ed Asner. It takes grit to stand for innocent children and a foundation named âRosenberg.â
This will be an unpopular tweet because Julius Rosenberg was a traitor. But many loyal progressive families were also targeted by the US government for nothing.
Into that quagmire of actual Soviet spies, traitors and other scum alongside loyal do-gooding anti-totalitarian progressive US activists waded people who were focused that children not pay the price of COINTELPRO & other terrifying dirty tricks campaigns.
My family was targeted.
My parents generation bore the brunt of the extra-judicial anti-communist zealotry. And I, to this day, despise the suffocation of Communism and Totalitarianism in much the same way I canât stand the evil cruelty of Anti-Communism.
So choosing to stand for kids is a big deal.
RIP to Ed Asner. A man who stood for deserving and innocent children at considerable cost to himself and one who repeatedly stood his ground for a better world. đ
